Get Teased For The Terminator: Genisys Trailer

This article is over 10 years old and may contain outdated information

Here’s your first look at the time-traveling robot-reboot

The upcoming feature Terminator: Genisys is aiming to start the popular Arnold Schwarzenegger sci-fi franchise over from scratch via the magic of time-travel. The film’s official site is currently counting down to the release of the first trailer later today, but fans can get a brief glimpse via a brief teaser now.

The short 15-second snippet doesn’t offer much context, but we do get to hear a new interpretation of the classic Terminator theme, a look at a futuristic facility of some kind, what appears to be a new T-1000 and Arnold back in his T-800 threads.

Details of the film’s actual plot have been kept largely secret, beyond the idea that it involves Skynet’s time-traveling schemes radically-altering the timeline of the original series. Game of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke will star as a new interpretation of Sarah Connor, who has already encountered (and been orphaned by) Terminators as a young girl and is protected as an adult by an “aging” reprogrammed T-800 (Schwarzenegger.)

Rumors have also suggested that Schwarzenegger will appear as multiple ages and models of Terminator, and that the story will feature visits to the time periods of previous episodes of the franchise. Matt Smith, Jason Clarke and Jai Courtney also star, with Thor: The Dark World’s Alan Taylor directing.

Terminator: Genysis is due out in July of 2015.
