NHN USA has announced the open beta launch of its upcoming political and economic MMOG, Luminary: Rise of the GoonZu.
Luminary: Rise of the GoonZu puts players in the role of an artisan, warrior or politician as they strive to advance through the ranks of the people to become the GoonZu. The game simulates a real-world society in which gamers can kill things and sell stuff, accumulating wealth to buy stocks, lease buildings and employ a work force. Once players feel they have achieved a sufficient level of popularity and respect, they can run for the office of GoonZu, giving them control over the server’s future.
The game is playable over ijji.com, an NHN USA game portal that offers numerous free online games, including GUNZ, Gunbound Revolution, Drift City, Rounders Poker and many others. NHN, the largest internet company in South Korea, also maintains game sites in Japan and China. “GoonZu” probably doesn’t sound funny in any of those countries.
The GoonZu: Rise of the Luminary open beta begins today and can be accessed at luminary.ijji.com.
