Just Cause 2‘s Multiplayer Mod Now Integrated on Steam

Just Cause 2‘s chaotic multiplayer mod is out and ready to rock.

The multiplayer mod for Just Cause 2 is one of the most ambitious in recent memory. The sheer addition of network play in a normally single-player game is impressive enough, but the achieving scope of the mod (sustaining up to a thousand players per server) without breaking the game’s programming in half is a real feat. After a successful beta, the mod is finally ready for its “official” launch, claiming a page on Steam’s store and dropping a flashy launch trailer.

The mod adds a number of multiplayer events to enjoy, some straight from the base game and some original ideas. The map of Just Cause 2 was absurdly large when there was only one crazy agent of destruction running around, but on full servers you can expect explosions and wild firefights to be happening everywhere you look.

Just Cause 2: Multiplayer Mod, as the DLC is bluntly titled on Steam, has enjoyed a great reception from the game’s developers, Avalanche Studios. In fact, to celebrate the mod’s launch, Just Cause 2 itself (which is required to play the mod) is on sale for a measly three bucks until December 19. If you’ve yet to visit the tropical islands of Panau, there’s no better time than the present.
