Kingdom Come: Deliverance Live-Action Adaptation in the Works

Warhorse Studios and former Netflix executive Erik Barmack are working together to produce a live-action adaptation of 2018’s Kingdom Come: Deliverance game, according to Variety. Whether it will be a film or a series has not been decided at this time. Barmack’s company Wild Sheep Content and Warhorse Studios CEO Martin Frývaldský have started reaching out to writers and directors.

Barmack noted in general that he wanted to focus on worlds that didn’t come from the United States but would still have regional and global popularity, and Kingdom Come: Deliverance will offer such opportunities. “It’s especially interesting that video games with heavy narrative, like The Witcher and Kingdom Come: Deliverance, are uniquely adaptable, and local but global all at once,” he added. Notably, Barmack also recently struck a deal with Sega to develop a live-action adaptation of Yakuza.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance tells the story of a blacksmith’s son named Henry. His village is burned down and his parents are killed, so he joins Lord Radzig’s resistance movement to enact revenge against Sigismund, the king of Hungary.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance was released back in February 2018 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Check out Gameumentary’s interview with Warhorse Studios PR Manager Tobias Stolz-Swilling.
