Kit Harington to Return as Jon Snow in Game of Thrones Sequel Series at HBO

A Game of Thrones sequel show is in development at HBO with Kit Harington set to return as the scene-stealing Jon Snow, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The follow-up series focused on Harington’s character is currently in early development. This would be a live-action continuation that picks up right after the events of the eight season story that wrapped up in 2019. Game of Thrones left with Jon Snow traveling back North of the Wall, and this new series will focus on his next journey, likely exploring the aftermath of the show’s final season. No additional details have been revealed at this time.

Game of Thrones ended in 2019, but it’s far from being the last we’ve heard of George R. R. Martin’s world-shaking fantasy series. HBO’s House of the Dragon spinoff is still on track to arrive this August, although that show takes place long before the events TV fans already know. The company also has more live-action shows in the pipeline, too, with other animated projects also on the way.

Game of Thrones has one of the most controversial endings television has ever seen. A Jon Snow sequel series could be what the franchise needs to bring it back from the dead — or it could be the final nail in the coffin.
