When the MultiVersus open beta begins on July 26, it will sport a new character: superstar basketball player LeBron James, as he appeared in the film Space Jam: A New Legacy. It’s fitting that a movie that existed just to be a gigantic commercial for Warner Bros. IP has now created an excuse for a basketball player to appear in a game that is a gigantic commercial for Warner Bros. IP. However, unlike Space Jam: A New Legacy, the early critical reception to MultiVersus has been generally positive, making it a better use of a LeBron James appearance.
You can check out the LeBron character reveal trailer below, which confirms a rumor about the basketball player’s involvement that had been floating around since before this game was even officially announced. Warner Bros. Games has further announced that Rick Sanchez and Morty Smith from Rick and Morty will be joining MultiVersus at some point in the future.
As we previously reported, the MultiVersus open beta launches on all of its platforms on July 26, and those who participated in the alpha already have access to the beta. Progress made in the beta will be carried over to the final release, which is nice since most of the characters have to be unlocked through playing the game (or ponying up a little cash). Harley Quinn, Shaggy, Jake, and Taz are available to start.
