IDG World Expo announced today that Major League Gaming will hold a special tournament at the Entertainment For All Expo, taking the place of the now-defunct World Series of Video Games.
The tournament will feature both professional and amateur players battling for “thousands of dollars” in cash prizes, as well as special MLG Pro appearances and a “Get Better First” session aimed at helping aspiring gamers improve their skills on popular titles.
“We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again: E for All is about one thing – games, games and games,” said IDG World Expo CEO Mary Dolaher. “Competitive gaming is a central part of that game experience, and we couldn’t be happier to team up with Major League Gaming to allow E for All attendees to participate in the excitement and energy of competitive game play with some of the best, most talented gamers in the field today.”

The World Series of Video Games was originally scheduled to hold a tournament at the E for All event, but its sudden collapse, announced last week, left the event organizers scrambling to find a replacement. The Entertainment For All Expo, a consumer-focused event created in the wake of massive changes at the Electronic Entertainment Exposition (now known as the E3 Media and Business Summit), is running from October 18-21 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
