There’s a lot to see at the Victoria and Albert this Friday.
If you’re a Minecraft fan, and you happen to be somewhere near the Victoria and Albert museum in London, Friday 30th August, you’re in luck. That’s when Mojang’s creation takes the place over for the evening, with everything from films, book teasers, and displays, to a talk from Jens Bergensten, Minecraft‘s lead designer. The whole thing runs from 630pm to 11pm, and best of all, it’s free to enter. What’s not to love?
Bergensten will be talking about the art and craft of game design, but if you want to see craft, maybe you should check out Block by Block, the Minecraft architecture display. The official Minecraft books will get a pre-launch premier, and there’ll be a giant 3D pop-up book on display created especially for the event. Or you can wander the galleries and get a glimpse of the Minecraft easter eggs prop maker Greg Aronowitz has left lying around, lurking in the other galleries.
This is part of the V&A’s series of Friday Lates, a new initiative to get folks in on a Friday night. Events are on a first come, first served, so if you’re keen, better hurry.
