Modern Warfare 3 Coming to the DS

You can’t sit in front of a console 24 hours a day, but that doesn’t mean you have to stop playing Modern Warfare 3 when you’re out and about.

Developer n-Space has revealed that it is working on a version of the latest Call of Duty game for the Nintendo DS, titled “Modern Warfare 3: Defiance,” the fifth Call of Duty game the developer has worked on.

n-Space’s previous Call of Duty titles have told different stories than their console and pc counterparts, and it’s not too much of a stretch to assume that Defiance will as well. But while this, and the fact that Treyarch is working on a Wii version of the game, is great news for most Nintendo fans, it doesn’t look like n-Space is working on a 3DS version. Writing on its official Facebook page, the studio said that it was a big supporter of the 3DS, with three games in development for the platform, but that that it could only make the games it was hired to make, and didn’t have any say in what platforms it got to work on.

The 3DS aside, Activision is really pushing Modern Warfare 3 to appear on as many platforms as possible. The DS versions are pretty common, but Wii versions of Call of Duty games – particularly the Modern Warfare series – are released with much less regularity, being more than two years late in the case of Modern Warfare 1, and not appearing at all for Modern Warfare 2.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 comes out for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 on November 8th. There are no concrete dates for the Wii and DS versions, but they will probably be released around the same time.
