New X-Men: Destiny Trailers Skimps on the Details

This article is over 13 years old and may contain outdated information

The second teaser trailer for X-Men: Destiny is a lot like the first. Except for the cyborg giant, he’s new.

Activision has released another teaser trailer for the upcoming Silicon Knights game, X-Men: Destiny, and honestly, it’s a little too much tease, and not anywhere near enough trailer.

The second trailer starts much like the first, with silhouettes of various X-Men characters, both good guys and bad. Rather than the flat backgrounds of the first trailer however, the silhouettes are standing in front of what look like in-game environments, although there’s no indication of where they’re supposed to be. The voice over is also different this time, as someone – who I’m presuming is Cyclops – talks about how fighting in a war changes people and how genes don’t define who a person is.

There’s also an intriguing snippet of in-game footage where a giant cyborg thing stands up, seemingly getting ready to attack. It kind of looks like the creature is infected with the same techno-organic virus as the time-travelling mutant Cable, although it could also be some new kind of Sentinel with a similar looking design. Assuming of course, that’s it’s not something entirely new, created just for the game.

Currently, nothing we’ve seen in the either of the two trailers even tells us what kind of game X-Men: Destiny will be. The only thing we know for sure is that players will take on the role of new mutants in a branching storyline with a “deep element of choice.” If I had to make a guess, I’d say we’re looking at some kind of action RPG, but we’ll have to wait and see.
