Rat Race, an upcoming comedy adventure game for the PlayStation 3, will feature writing and voices by several high-caliber New York City comedians.

Victor Varnado, who has performed on Late Night with Conan O’Brien, Jimmy Kimmel Live, Comedy Central and HBO is leading the group as Super-Ego Games head writer and voice director. Rounding out the company’s in-house writing team are Roger Hailes, who has appeared on MTV, VH1 and Comedy Central, and Karen Schneider, who has experience at Nickelodeon and Disney. Other talents working with Super-Ego on the game are Chris Deluca, Amanda Melson, Leo Allen, Kristen Schaal and Andres du Bouchet, who have worked on a wide variety of shows including Saturday Night Live, Law & Order, Ugly Betty, Ed and Last Call With Carson Daly.

“I’ve been hooked on gaming since I was a kid, so working with Super-Ego is one of the best gigs I have ever had,” Varnado said. “Super-Ego has come up with an amazing concept, and my contribution is to help make sure this game is incredibly satisfying to play thanks to its humor, cool characters and clever storytelling.”

Rat Race, Super-Ego’s first original game, puts players in the role of Tina Brooks, a brand manager who must deal with “an unending series of wacky, over-the-top and wildly inappropriate situations” while working at an ethically-challenged consumer products company. The game is the first-ever episodic release for the PlayStation 3 console.

“Having access to such amazing comedic talent will help us deliver a unique gaming experience,” said Super-Ego President Greg Easley. “We’re fortunate that Victor has joined the team and that we’ve managed to tap into New York’s professional comedy scene, which is obviously cutting edge and vibrant.”

The first episode of Rat Race is scheduled for release this winter. More information can be found at the Super-Ego Games website.
