Update 4: 10:00 BST 11th October
The Battlefield team have offered an apology for the “outage” and are offering some perks as well of an apology.
Update 3 22:00 BST: EA has closed in on a fix: “The team is in the process of deploying a resolution for the issue that causes players on the EA App to be unable to start game modes due to missing DLC/content. Players will need to restart the game for this to take effect. We expect this to be completed within the next hour or so and will update when it’s done.”
Update 2 – 19:10 BST: EA has stated that “We believe we have found a possible cause for this issue. We are in the process of validating a potential fix and will provide an update when we have it.”
Update 1: The Global Community Manager, Ganslinger has responded to the issue. They have no ETA for a broad sweeping fix, but the developers are working on the issues. Source: Official Battlefield Discord. That link should take you directly to the comment if you’re already in the Discord.
As is tradition, it seems like pre-loading games is once again causing some issues for Battlefield 6 players. Those on PlayStation and the EA App appear to be having the most trouble getting the game to work, thanks to the Battlefield 6 Multiplayer Not Installed bug. When trying to load into multiplayer or single player, players are greeted with messages like Multiplayer not installed after getting through the rather large server queues, or with some saying they get the Campaign not installed bug too.
For the most part, this looks like a bug related to how the preloading and unpacking process happened. Over on Steam, this issue doesn’t seem to be a problem, but it’s definitely showing up for players using the EA App and, to some extent, on PlayStation.
How to Fix Multiplayer Not Installed on EA App
If you’re on the EA App, there’s an easy way to try fixing it:
- Click on Battlefield 6 in your game library.
- Press the Manage button.
- Select Repair.
- If that doesn’t work, you can try modifying the install. Try unticking the multiplayer option and then checking again to start a reinstall. Some have tried that with mixed success.
- Some also mention to try and join community servers in portal. Click Community, Browse, select a server, view more info on that server and try to join it? Again it has mixed results but 100% xp servers with similar rules to regular servers seems to work based on some feedback we’ve seen.
This will repair the install and ensure you get the missing licenses for the multiplayer and single-player components. It seems the issue is linked to how these modes are packaged as add-ons, meant to help manage download sizes for HDD and SSD storage.
If that doesn’t work, check that both Single Player and Multiplayer are installed by clicking the Modify Install button. Chances are they’re installed but just slightly broken and need verifying.
For Console and Steam Players
If you’re on console, try reinstalling the game. Alternatively, PlayStation users can try the Rebuild Database option, which sometimes resolves install and license issues.
If you’re on Steam, the best fix is to verify the integrity of the game files. Steam users seem mostly unaffected, but this step usually clears up any broken or missing files just in case.
If the issue persists, then chances are Battlefield Studios will have a post fixing the issue at some point too. It’s a shame that many pre-orders are affected causing the issue.
