Black Ops 7 MXR-17

Black Ops 7: Best MXR-17 loadout that the pros are running with so far

The MXR-17 has established itself as the go-to option for players seeking a harder-hitting rifle in the Black Ops 7 beta. This 7.62 round beast trades fire rate for raw damage per shot, compared to the M15 Mod, creating a distinct advantage in mid-range duels where accuracy matters more than spray-and-pray tactics. It’s certainly fun, and something different if you’re not a fan of playing the M8A1’s burst fire in that role.

Pro players are running the Gunfighter Wildcard almost universally with the MXR-17, unlocking up to eight attachment slots instead of the standard five. This flexibility transforms the weapon into an accuracy monster while maintaining surprisingly snappy handling for such a hard-hitting rifle.

The standard pro build centers on the Lethal Tools ELO for clean sight pictures, paired with the Redwell 7.62 Brake for vertical recoil control. The 18″ Rift-M7 Barrel extends damage range while the Sentry Pro Handstop keeps the gun stable during sustained fire. The Vault Extended Magazine bumps capacity to 30 rounds—not massive, but enough for multi-kill scenarios without constant reloading.

Where the build gets interesting is the mobility stack. The Celerity Grip and Greaves Covenant Stock combine to create surprisingly aggressive ADS and Sprint-to-Fire speeds for a weapon in this damage class. With seven attachments equipped, the MXR-17 handles more like a mobile AR than the slow, methodical rifle you’d expect from 7.62 ammunition.

The eighth attachment slot remains controversial. Most players leave it empty since you now have only Combs and Lasers to choose from. Combs require a very specific stock, which pros don’t like using. And the pros don’t like lasers as they compromise on stealth, thanks to a giant laser making them stand out more.. If you’re dead-set on using that eighth slot, the 3mW Motion laser adds damage range and recoil stabilization while remaining relatively discreet during ADSt. Hip-fire attachments are pointless given the weapon’s slower fire rate—you’ll lose those close-range duels to SMGs regardless.

The MXR-17’s strength lies in its zero-compromise accuracy build enabled by Gunfighter. You get laser-beam precision at range without sacrificing the mobility needed to keep up with Black Ops 7’s fast-paced beta gameplay. Just don’t try to outgun a Dravec 45 in tight corridors with it.
