How to get Glass in Hytale

Glass bottles are a material that players will need to get their hands on in Hytale for gathering liquids and potion-making. It’s part of the game’s big RPG appeal for players to make their own stuff, go and fight bosses, and explore the lands. However, making glass in Hytale has some quirks.

How to make Glass in Hytale

To make glass in Hytale, you need to find the general sand block. This cannot be confused with sandstone, which operates differently. The best advice we can give you is to look for areas with a lot of water. You should start to notice the difference between sandstone and sand by the color of the sand on your proc-gen map.

Sand tends to be more of an obvious yellow. Meanwhile, sandstone tends to be more of a yellowy-white type color. You can typically see the differences around large beaches near the seas or very large lakes in the game.

You can see the difference in the image above as an example.

When you find an area, feel free to start mining the sand blocks and grab them. Take them to a furnace you craft with stone, and then start fueling your furnace and smelt the sand. The sand should then turn into glass bottles.

Glass bottles are used in the Alchemy Table, which you’ll make later on. These can be used to craft potions using various ingredients you find. Outside of that, we have not yet found any other uses for glass in Hytale.

If you’re looking to make windows as you would in Minecraft, then you can simply make them in the Builders Table. Check for things like Redwood, Hardwood, Marble, and you should see some window options. These don’t require any glass to make, as they come with the block. It’s one of those tiny differences between Hytale and Minecraft you need to unlearn.
