Super Mario Galaxy Super Mario Bros. 35th anniversary Nintendo remasters

Nintendo’s super meh September Direct had crazy viewership, here are the most offensive announcements

On September 12, Nintendo presented its longest-ever Nintendo Direct in celebration of Mario’s birthday. While it sorta felt like a bunch of remakes, overpriced stuff, and random accessories to buy for a console that hasn’t had much going for it since launch, the Nintendo fans ate it up.

According to Esports Charts, the peak viewership for the September Nintendo Direct was over 2.9 million viewers. Interestingly, the average was a bit over 2.2 million, meaning most people stayed for the entire 90-minute infomercial. This was over YouTube Live, Facebook Gaming, Twitch, and Kick, with the Japanese YouTube channel leading the charge.

The most offensive stuff announced in the Nintendo Direct

The Nintendo Direct on September 12 had some hits and a ton of misses. There were a few cool games to look forward to, but most of it felt like I was watching a dystopian Shark Tank fever dream. I found myself checking the time multiple times, feeling just as bored as I am during the 40 minutes of trailers ahead of a movie at the theater.

Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 for Nintendo Switch 2

These remasters are coming to the Nintendo Switch 2, which is pretty cool for fans of the awesome titles. However, $40 each? Are we for real right now?

This was really announced during the Nintendo Direct? Was this needed to make the Direct hit 90 minutes or something? This is basically like the times movies add in a random little creature because you know they just want to sell some merch.

Tons of overpriced amiibos

Speaking of, a handful of amiibos were announced during the Nintendo Direct that range from $30 to $50. Remember when these useless things used to be $12.99? Holy shit.

Pokémon Legends Z-A: Mega Dimension DLC

Paid DLC for a game that isn’t out for another few months. I know you Pokémon fans will rave and gush about half-finished games, but really? It’s become this bad, huh?

Kirby Air Rider gets another Direct

\Bro, are we deadass right now? Kirby Air Rider, a game with one button and no storyline, already had a 45-minute Direct where Sakurai just read us the manual and showed us how wonky all the machines are. And now we’re getting another one for some reason. I was already gonna buy the game, damn.

Virtual Boy hardware

Yipee, more crap to buy.
