Nintendo Dominates Europe

Nintendo has released sales figures for both the Nintendo DS and the Wii. 325,000 Wii’s sold in two days makes for the fastest selling console ever released in Europe.

Along with the new console, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess sold 240,000 copies, a 74 percent tie-in ratio very similar to North American sales. The second most popular game was Wii Play, which includes a Wii Remote, with a tie-in of just over 50 percent according to Nintendo.

“For those who were unable to buy a Wii during the launch weekend, rest assured more stock is already on its way and we are doing everything possible to ensure that a steady supply of Wii units is shipped to stores across Europe throughout December and into 2007,” said Laurent Fischer, Marketing Director for Nintendo Europe.

The Nintendo DS also had a good weekend, selling 515,000 units. This brings the European total up to 8.5 million sold in the region so far.
