The open universe game has been confirmed by Edge magazine as hitting the PC platform some time after its 2015 release on the PS4.

Hello Games made a splash at this past E3 with No Man’s Sky, which has players hopping across planets in a procedurally-generated universe. Announced for the PS4, no word has been given on whether or not it would see release on other platforms following its 2015 launch. Recently, though, the magazine Edge reports that No Man’s Sky will land on the PC after a timed exclusive period on Sony’s console, putting to rest earlier speculation that the game would be a PS4 exclusive.

Hello Games chose to lead development with the PS4 due to how the company approaches design, control and performance. According to Edge, Hello Games’ Sean Murray said he “actually got in a bit of trouble for saying that we wanted the game to feel really ‘console-y’ … We’ve always had PC in mind but in my head [console-y] means solid framerate and immediate controls. I think a PC game can be ‘console-y’ and it’s intended as a compliment, but I get in trouble for saying it.”

The PS4 hardware also gave the No Man’s Sky team to create more vivid environments due to the console’s ability to “maximize its procedural generation algorithms,” according to Edge.

We’ve sent a message to Hello Games inquiring if they can give a more definite release for the PC version and if No Man’s Sky will make it to any other platforms. We’ll update you when we hear anything.
