Hothead Games, the studio behind the new Penny Arcade adventure, is named Most Promising New Company in Canada.
The Canadian New Media Awards (CNMA) named Hothead Games the Most Promising New Company of the Year for 2007. Hothead received the prestigious Pixel award at the annual awards ceremony. Winners were selected by a panel of industry peers and academic scholars. This year’s award show featured over 400 guests and a “Nerd’s Nite Out” theme.
Hothead Games is best known for its development of the episodic comedy Penny Arcade Adventure game based on the famous webcomic and overseen by adventure game legend Ron Gilbert. A second title, Swarm, is a test in “swarm management” gameplay and “machine learning” artificial intelligence. Swarm is one of four finalists in the Telefilm Great Canadian Video Game Competition.
Joint CEO’s Vlad Ceraldi and Steve Bocska were honored to receive recognition. “We were surprised and flattered to even be nominated. To be recognized by our peers and actually win is a great honor for our whole company,” said Bocska.
Ceraldi added,”Awards like this are a collective achievement. We could have never gotten this far without the hard work of our dedicated and experienced team.”
