“Pop-Up” Trailer Drops Some Deets on Max Payne 3

Rockstar releases the Max Payne 3 debut trailer all over again in a “pop-up” format revealing a bunch of previously unknown details about the upcoming game.

First things first: yes, this is the same trailer Rockstar released earlier this month that gave gamers their first look at the upcoming addition to the Max Payne franchise. But that doesn’t mean that there’s nothing new to see; in fact, this “pop-up” trailer is packed with all sorts of interesting details.

For instance, the character who offers to get Max work in Sao Paulo is Raul Passos, an old pal from the Academy and former Bronx homicide cop who now does private security contracting in South America. The game will be “firmly rooted in the narrative themes and visual style of noir, [with] stark contrasts, fatal characters, internal monologues, use of shadows and a dark, twisted storyline.” Environments are destructible and while cover will give players a brief respite, “the way to survive and progress is by running and gunning.”

Kinda gives a whole new meaning to the term “bullet points,” doesn’t it? It’s too bad this isn’t a brand-new video but as a content delivery system, it sure beats the hell out of cut-and-paste press releases. Max Payne 3 is currently slated for released in March 2012 on the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
