Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake Skips E3, Launching in 2022

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake will not make an appearance during the E3 2021 Ubisoft Forward presentation this week, as the remake’s official Twitter account announced today. Ubisoft did reiterate that “great progress” is being made on the game though, as the team now aims to launch sometime in 2022.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake was revealed last year as a modern reimagining of 2003’s original action platformer. However, fans criticized the visuals shown off in this initial reveal. While it was first scheduled to launch back on Jan. 21, 2021, Ubisoft quickly delayed the game to launch on March 21. Then in February, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake was delayed again, this time without a new date. Ubisoft hasn’t explicitly explained what the extra development time is being used for, but it wouldn’t be a surprise to see a game that looks vastly different by the time launch rolls around.

Ubisoft unveiled its E3 plans last week, promising an hour-long event filled with updates on some of its most anticipated titles. During E3 2021’s Ubisoft Forward, which will take place at noon PT / 3 p.m. ET on June 12, expect to see updates on the Rainbow Six franchise, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, and more — but not Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake.
