Independent developer S2 Games has announced the release of Savage 2: A Tortured Soul, the follow-up to the 2003 release Savage: The Battle for Newerth.
Following in the footsteps of its predecessor, Savage 2: A Tortured Soul combines first-person shooter, real-time strategy and role-playing elements into a fast-paced multiplayer action game. Each match pits two teams of humans or beasts against one another in a struggle for absolute dominance, using ranged, melee and special abilities. Players can also take control of larger siege units to destroy enemy buildings, and each team will include one Commander, a player who will oversee the battleground, manage construction and research and issue orders for strategic assaults.
“The development of Savage 2 has been a labor of love,” said S2 Games Lead Designer Marc DeForest. “The fans have been anxiously waiting and their support has kept us working tirelessly to make sure the game lives up to their and our expectations. We can’t wait for gamers to enter the battlefield and test their skills in this truly unique game.”
Players can sign up for a limited demo account that includes five hours of online play, and the free client also offers a single-player tutorial, unlimited LAN play and access to a “replay database” that tracks and catalogs every game played. An upgrade to the full game is $29.99 and will grant unlimited online play, full access to the Savage Clan League, use of persistent items and more. Savage 2: A Tortured Soul is available for download at savage2.s2games.com.
