Sega has partnered with Eurocom Entertainment Software in an exclusive license with International Sports Multimedia to produce Beijing 2008: The Official Videogame of the Olympic Games.

The game will be an authentic simulation of over 35 official Olympic events, and will also include online multiplayer competition for the first time ever in an official Olympic videogame. Innovative controls will simplify the learning experience for novice gamers while giving more experienced players the chance to set new records and truly experience the “Olympic Spirit.” Eurocom has previously developed Athens 2004, the official videogame of the 2004 Olympics in Athens, as well as Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, Ice Age 2: The Meltdown, James Bond 007: Nightfire and several others.

Beijing 2008 will set a new standard for sports games in this genre,” said Eurocom Director Hugh Binns. “With a huge number of events, innovative control schemes to benefit new and experienced gamers, online multiplayer modes providing hours of entertainment and stunning high definition graphics, Beijing 2008 will be a fantastic experience.”

“After the successful launch of Mario & Sonic and the Olympic Games, we are delighted to announce the official videogame of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. Combining an enjoyable game with a truly global sporting license will provide a fantastic sports game experience for gamers everywhere,” added Sega Europe Marketing Director Gary Knight.

Beijing 2008 is currently set for a summer 2008 release on the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Beijing 2008: The Official Mobile Phone Game of the Olympic Games is also in production and scheduled for a similar release.
