Foundation 9 has named the mixed Shiny and Collective studio Double Helix.
The Irvine, California, studio is the result of the combination of Shiny Entertainment and The Collective that began in late 2007. This merger combines each teams’ technologies and developers into a stronger studio. Double Helix is currently working on three licensed, multi-platform games.
“Making games is in our DNA,” said studio head, Michael Saxs Persson. “The Double Helix name is perfect for our studio because it invokes the thought of two studios coming together to build a powerful new force in game development.”
“We want our team members to feel like they have a certain level of ownership over their studio,” continued Persson. “By allowing them to generate names and logo concepts, we’ve given them the opportunity to steer the branding in a direction that fits their personalities.”
