Kojima Productions will receive a (liquid) hand from Amazing Spider-Man producer.

Things seems to be getting pretty busy for Solid Snake and company. At the Metal Gear Solid 25th Anniversary event held in Japan, Hideo Kojima announced that, in addition to an open world game, a Metal Gear Solid movie is now in the works, courtesy of a new partnership between Kojima Productions and Columbia Pictures. Avi Arad, a producer on The Amazing Spider-Man, is attached to produce the project.

“For many years I fought to bring comics to theaters – and videogames are the comics of today,” he said. “We will take our time and tell the story with all the nuances, ideology, cautionary tales needed.” Arad’s credits include many Marvel properties, such as Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance and The Incredible Hulk, and stretches from the Double Dragon television series to the upcoming movie adaptation of Uncharted.

While no directors or actors are officially signed on, Kojima dropped names such as Christopher Nolan, Hugh Jackman, Matt Damon, and Ben Affleck as people he’d like to see involved with the adaptation. Since official casting will most likely not occur until after a director and writer are attached, for now, all we can do is guess. Personally, I’m thinking Jason Statham in a wicked wig is the best bet for Snake. What about you?
