Sony Denies PSP Price Cuts

This article is over 18 years old and may contain outdated information

Sony denies rumors that the PSP will receive a price cut this Fall.

On Friday, a report from CNN’s Game Over column cited analyst forecasts which suggested an impending $50 to $149 dollar price cut for the Sony PSP. P.J.MeNealy of American Technology Research said that, “[The PSP] has lost momentum. Nintendo has had a great run since it launched the DS Lite and Sony needs to regain some ground.”

Today, according to GamesIndustry.biz, a Sony UK spokesperson replied that, “Currently we have no plans to cut the price of the PSP at this time.” Sony would be unlikely to announce any kind of price drop until a few days before it would go into effect, much like they’ve done with the PS2 in the past.
