Sony has unveiled plans to offer E3 2007 coverage via the PlayStation Network, following closely behind Microsoft’s announcement of a similar offering via Xbox Live.
Downloadable E3 content will be available at the PlayStation store, including the full contents of the Sony Computer Entertainment America press conference that will be held on July 11. Game trailers, conference videos and other content will also be available. Daily updates will also be available on Playstation.com, as well as via the official PlayStation Blog.
Microsoft announced its second year of E3 “Bringing It Home” coverage on Xbox Live on Tuesday. Coverage will be similar, including a high-definition video of the Microsoft E3 press conference, video updates, game trailers, themes and demos from various games including Assassin’s Creed, BioShock, and Project Gotham Racing 4. The company has also promised some “surprises” over the course of its coverage.
Inaugurated in 2006, Microsoft’s “Bringing It Home” E3 coverage was a significant success. Format changes for this year’s E3, particularly the reduction in press to “invitation only,” is expected to greatly increase demand for “from the floor” online coverage.
