Sam & Max developer Telltale Games teams with Valve to digitally distribute the adventure series.
Following a stint on the game download service GameTap and recent news that the series would be released on retail shelves in August, Telltale Games has announced that their episodic adventure series Sam & Max is being offered on Valve’s online download service Steam. Each episode sells for $8.95 with an additional 10 percent discount for the first week of release.
Telltale Chief Executive Officer Dan Connors commented, “Digital distribution is clearly a core component of our business and we’re really impressed by Valve’s approach to the market. The Steam folks have a great understanding of how robust online channels can bring new value added content, product expansions and serialized episodes to keep audiences regularly engaged.”
“Sam & Max, a pioneering episodic series of PC games, and Steam, a pioneering distribution platform for PC games, are a natural match.Creating a path to millions of gamers for the delivery of episodic content is just one of the new business models enabled by Steam,” added Jason Holtman, director of business development at Valve.
