Nintendo Wii U and 3DS ports for Terraria will be available in Q1 2016, according to a press release from 505 Games.

Terraria lead developer Whitney Baird previously stated that Terraria would be making its way to Nintendo gamers, although no release date was given. Until today, that is.

In a press release today, 505 Games and Re-Logic studio announced the Minecraft-y sandbox adventure Terraria for Nintendo’s 3DS and Wii U. The title will be available in early 2016, and will feature “unique platform-specific features.”

“Both the 3DS and Wii U versions will feature intuitive touchscreen controls, allowing Terrarians to reach directly into the world for the very first time to fashion elaborate structures and fight off enemies with fingertip & stylus control,” the press release reads. “The Wii U and 3DS versions of Terraria offer the ideal introduction to the franchise for the young and old player alike – and a fresh way to play for veterans of the franchise.”

The 3DS version offers local WiFi play supporting up to four players. The Wii U version will support up to eight players online or up to four-player split-screen using classic Wii Remotes.

“With over 1,300 crafting recipes, 150 enemies and 15 bosses to battle, players will have endless hours of fun as they literally dig to the ends of the earth, crafting with what they discover to make amazing armor, weapons and other items. Players can explore vast and vibrant worlds, encountering treacherous perils including hundreds of twisted foes, magical creatures and mighty final bosses!”

Terraria launched in 2011 for PC, and has since found a home on PS3, PS4 Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS Vita, iOS, Android, and Windows phones.
