The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Debuts Epic Intro Cinematic

CD Projekt Red shows off their epic opening cinematic for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

Debuting at the Golden Joystick Awards, CD Projekt Red has a shiny new cinimatic trailer to show off their latest RPG The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will actually be the conclusion to the story of The Witcher main character Geralt of Rivia, an amnesic monster hunter with an uncanny knack for getting wrapped up in larger issues. Story details are still a little stretchy, but so far we know that the game will deal with the Wild Hunt, an mythical force connected to Geralt’s past, and this specific trailer is about another character connected to Geralt, the sorceress Yennefer.

Akin to The Witcher 2: Enhanced Edition‘s cinematic intro, this trailer doesn’t feature Geralt extensively. We see Yennefer escaping or fleeing through a battlefield, wrecking havoc with anyone unfortunate enough to slow her down. She unleashes some pretty impressive, and gruesome, magical feats in her quest to get away. Granted, I probably wouldn’t want to be stuck in the middle of a cavalry charge either. This inter cuts with quick scenes of the grizzled and bearded Geralt following the clues to track her.

And holy crap, did that guy just get killed by a bird bursting through his head!?!

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt promises to be a bigger open world experience, “20% bigger than Skyrim”, rather than being segmented into smaller sections like previous Witcher games. Look for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt early next year, Feb 24. It will be available on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
