The Witcher Fighting Game Comes to iPhone

The Witcher is coming to iOS devices, but not as an actual RPG.

The Witcher is well-known as a quality RPG for PCs. While there’ve been talk of bringing the franchise to other systems, nothing’s really come about … until now, that is. The Witcher: Versus is now available on the iPhone.

Chillingo is publishing the fantasy-based combat game for iOS devices, which is currently selling for $0.99 (this is a limited-time offer, though). The game’s been described as a “rock-paper-scissors type strategic brawler” and allows players to battle each other both locally and over the web.

Here’s the official descriptor:

The Witcher: Versus is a world full of fierce duels, powerful foes, and dark magic. Become the most-feared dueller and fight against real players online in The Witcher: Versus. Choose your favourite class; a Witcher, Sorceress, or Frightener then customize your character as you jump right into the battle!

Complete challenges and loot new weapons, amulets, and magical items to improve your character’s skills and abilities.

Prove your bravery with various achievements and impress the other warriors with your hard-earned badges.

Chillingo has a reputation for publishing quality iOS titles, but this seems like a pretty radical departure from the deep gameplay of the original Witcher. If you’ve got an iPhone or iPod Touch, do you think you’ll pick this up?
