Frequent industry analyst Michael Pachter said he expects Wii console sales to rise with the impending release of the Wii Fit bundle.
The Wedbush Morgan employee said the May launch could “cause a new boom in demand for the Wii” – already in short supply.
Pachter labeled the company’s own estimates of $3.14 billion and consensus estimates of $3.57 billion too low. His group is also raising fiscal 2009 estimates to $17 billion, up from $14.5 billion.
The release of Wii Fit along with Mario Kart Wii and Pokemon Mystery Dungeon “has the potential for significant revenue contribution,” said Pachter, who added, “We believe that Nintendo of America intends to support the Wii Fit launch with the biggest marketing campaign in its history, and believe that the increased buzz will drive increased demand for the already difficult to find Wii hardware.”
