The script for the sequel to X-Men Origins: Wolverine has been completed and it’s set to take place in Japan.

According to Showbiz411, the script for X-Men Origins: Wolverine 2 has been completed by screenwriter Christopher McQuarrie, who won an oscar for The Usual Suspects and has worked on rewrites for Bryan Singer’s X-Men movies. No director has been attached to Wolverine 2 yet.

X-Men movies have certainly seen a run of success this decade, with four films under its belt grossing a total of $1.565 billion. The last film was a prequel centered around Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine and introduced peripheral X-Men characters like Wade Wilson/Deadpool and Gambit. Other Origins movies are planned for other characters including Magneto and the younger X-Men trio of Rogue, Iceman, and Pyro, but based on the popularity and success of Wolverine, the studio is moving forward with his story.

The plot for McQuarrie’s film is based on a story arc originally written for the Wolverine comic by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller, of 300 and Sin City fame. In the film, Woverine travels to Japan to learn martial arts and gets romantically involved with a Japanese actress.

“It’s a beautiful story and will be very different than the first film,” said Showbiz411’s source.
