I actually remember watching the 25th anniversary thing. I think I was in kindergarten. I always liked the Jetsons more. Never realized how often they chopped up the various incarnations. I vaguely remember the version with 7 minute shorts that had Bam Bam and Pebbles jumping around in ages. As a pre-schooler it confused me. We had the thing with Micheal Jackstone on VHS my mother was the 'health' teacher for our county so she taped alllll those 'just say no' episodes of EVERYTHING.
I remember the Flintstone Kids well because it usually ran back-to-back with the Tom & Jerry Kids in the 90s.
I Diamond it stop now. | |
Reboot of Cosmos....DO NOT WANT!!
Oh let them have their fun, they rock!
Yeah, I caught a couple of episodes of that. I also remember they used Captain Caveman as a sort of Itchy and Scratchy "that cartoon we all love" style thing. And I remember watching Captain Caveman and the teen angels. Fuck, I had no idea Flintstones got this weird.
Coal it, will you? It's starting to make me feel stoned.
I was waiting for Bob to talk about the Flintstones live action movie. Aw well.
For a rock-punned end quote, how about "Seth MacFarlane must be stoned." No really. Stone him. With rocks. It would be hilarious.
And here all I knew about where Pebbles and Bam-Bam as teenagers, The Flintstone Kids, The Jetsons Meet The Flintstones, the live action Flintstones movie, and Genndy Tartakovsky's Flintstones movie. Those there were some things I recognized, like the Shmoo and Captain Caveman.
I'm not sure how much longer I can keep this up, I'm starting to feel a little jaded.
Today is my birthday, and this is, surprisingly, what I've wanted to see all day. I do enjoy some good ol' rock puns.
Not to destroy the momentum of all the Seth Family Guy hate going on here, but Seth has gone on the record as saying that he wants to quit Family Guy. He only keeps it running because the people who work on it are his friends and he doesn't want to see them become unemployed. Also, he is tied by a multi-season contract. Its only gotten bad because he puts in the minimal effort, because he himself has lost the desire to continue making it. Looking forward to Cosmos hosted by N.D.T.
Anyone else find it interesting that Bob paused for a "yeah, really," on the Teenage Thing show, but not for freaking Partridge Family 2200 A.D.? What? WHAT? O.o;;
Nice to know that I'm not the only RD fan around here! OT: Wow, I didn't realize that so many spinoffs/revivals were made of the flintstones. I'm surprised you managed to miss the live-action feature film though...
This is starting to grind at my usually rock-solid patience.
And here , I was expecting an avalanche of responses. I suppose this thread has hit rock-bottom..
No mention of the Fruity/Cocoa Pebbles commercials?
So...Tartakovsky made a Flinstones TV movie? That's news to me.
You should get his album. Its just covers of lesser known Big Band songs but he puts his heart and soul into every note.
I love South Park for that very reason. I will never say that should ban something, But I will choose what I will and will not watch. Also, I do not like punk bands because of their lyrics, they are just too angry. I like country music, it does angry sometimes and sad. but it also has silly songs, Love songs, Christian songs, and songs that touch my heart. But same with Family Guy, I choose not to listen too Punk. If others like it they can listen too it but not I.
They were mentioned in his last video. That video sets this one up a bit.
I did not know that. That explains so much.
Seth MacFarlane grew up in the 80s. Can you tell? CAN YOU TELL YET??! HE REALLY LIKES THE 80s A LOT!!! CAN YOU TELL??! HMMM??! HUUHHH??!!! IS IT OBVIOUS ENOUGH YET!!???!
you forgot harvey birdman: attorny at law where fred was tony soprano
Jeeeeez! I loved the Flintstone Kids.
Wait... Genndy Tartakovsky made another Innovative but obscure piece of work that was not a financial success? That man has no luck. At all. Actually i would love an episode on Samurai Jack.
The only thing I missed was the mention of Laff-a-Lympics, though to be fair, they were more like cameo appearances in that show. On a sidebar, Fred and Barney appeared in an episode of Harvey Birdman (really, who didn't) where Fred is accused of being a godfather type mafia boss.
I don't know, cutting off a fifth of your workload and still collecting the same pay for it is kinda clever. Crap comedy, but clever ploy.
Since the flintstones predate christianity and even judaism, I always wondered how they could justify doing an xmas special. "hey we've discovered this wicked new religion after heading forwards through time, it even allows you to fuck children, what a wonderful religion!" Perhaps they would have been better served with a bit of good old fashioned sun worship.
Why do we need to reboot The Cosmos? I love NDT but he's already on a billion other space shows and says the same thing in every single one. We already got The Universe, it's pointless to reboot cosmos.
R.I.P. Carl Sagan. I'm really looking forward to that series, though.
Would you please stop with the faces? They almost never have anything to do with the subject or any emotion or idea you're trying to express. It's really random, strange, and distracting whenever they show up.

I get partial credit. Although, there were bits in the 80s I had forgotten about. Flinstone kids, namely. Understandably forgotten.

Dude, just watch The Universe or any of the other shows that the Discovery networks have been shoveling out for the last ten years to tell the public the exact same things about the same three topics. Not only is a Cosmos reboot unnecessary, giving NDT more time on TV to tell everyone the same things again is unnecessary.
