Conflict of Interest

DVS BSTrD:
For some reason I read the caption first, and for a second I didn't think it said In*terest* in the title.
Too bad it didn't go anywhere, If any girl was capable of biting his head off it would be Erin.

Nah see, this was just another alcohol induced illusion. The mantis was actually Link again, teaching Erin that through self cannibalism and self loathing we can all achieve our dreams!

Captcha: Good day

Are you sure there, captcha? Are you?

grigjd3:
So Activision typically hires Thrikreen? That would almost make me like them.

I, too, wondered if it was a ThriKreen reference.

I... seriously can't believe the amount of people that need a joke this straightforward explained to them. Oh, Escapist forums. Never change.

The worst part is he'll be expecting her to bite his head off after the deed is done. Mating rituals are so weird.

Love the comic... But the 'happy to deceive you' reference is really getting on my nerves. I'm sure I know where it's from but I can't remember! Given the ones I tend to know (lyrics, I squee'd when I read a Streetlight Manifesto one once) it's probably a song I haven't listened to in ages.

A mantis is actually an apt comparison for Activison, they catch and hold onto developers, eats them to death and grow stronger for it.

You let a handsome man like that get away? Your loss. ;)

Nasrin:
I like that we can't even talk crap about Activision anymore without it getting immediately derailed into EA hate. Ye gods, EA, what have you wrought?

Also... as always another hilarious comic. Keep it up!

I think if somebody created a thread about how cute kittens are, it'd end up being about EA hatred.

This is definitely one of my favourite's, although I don't personally have anything against Activision.

Daystar Clarion:
People seriously didn't get the joke?

I'm lost for words :D

VanQ:

I must admit, I was surprised by that as well. The comic wasn't particularly subtle.

Erin, look into my eyes! You WILL like Activision! I DO NOT work for an evil corporation!

So it turns out that Erin has standards for her love life.

Who knew?

Least Erin isn't race-ist... *cough* lame joke.. it's spelled racist I know. I apologize everyone.
But besides that I laughed quite a good bit at the end. Didn't see that coming, and really enjoyed the execution of the joke.

However, I wouldn't break up with someone because they were working for Activision. Now if it was EA .. I would ask a lot of questions from them. A lot.

Aha, good one!

Likely because outside of release some games people dislike for certain reasons, they haven't really done anything comparable to EA. At least that's my take on it

OT: Giggled when I scrolled down. Was pretty funny.

The real question is: Would she have had the same response if he had worked for Blizzard?

I like how his cup is just full of sugar cubes. :) Nice touch.
I love it when people put in little details. Good comic.

OK, that's EA and Activision in one week. What other publishers do these guys have an axe to grind with? And what's their take on LucasArts shutting down?

MetalMagpie:

Sewa_Yunga:
Okay, don't get this one... at all :(

It's implying that being an Activision employee is worse than being a giant monster mantis.

Swap Activision for EA/Microsoft/company-you-don't-like.

I'm actually surprised they didn't go for EA, but then, I'm also kind of happy they didn't go the low-lying fruit.

reminds me of what they did to poor blizzard, they captured it killed it and are living off of its vital juices to bolster its lagging performance

before anyone argues that blizzard isnt dead, it is dead and activision is wearing its skin

To be entirely fair to Blizzard, StarCraft 2 has been consistently solid.

The plot of both isn't particularly special, but the actual core gameplay is just as good as it has ever been.

It's only the Diablo and WarCraft teams that have been shitting the bed :P

That remind me to post about the game Jurassic Heart Here:

And yes, this game is real. Short dating game, but 100% real.

canadamus_prime:
Ok that's funny and all, but what has Activision done lately to earn this?

Implying Activision hasn't done enough .

OT: great strip . I'd totally not date someone from Activision .

Me55enger:
-snip-

Gah, I thought that this was some special sort of evil alien mantis from a recent video game that I didn't know...

Also, I wouldn't be too surprised if Erin dated an alien mantis. She'd be able to look past the shell!

One can only image the fun Cory had drawing that mantis!

synobal:
The joke doesn't really work with a female, and a male preying mantis.

Um... "the joke" isn't going for the female eating the male after mating thing (which is actually inaccurate). It's going for the "Working for Activision is worse than being a giant bug monster" thing. So... it works just fine.

I can't believe it took me this long to realize this but...

Is that tattoo on Erin's right wrist supposed to reference Bioshock? I've played the game again recently and the tattoos on Jack's wrist look a lot like her's.

I look forward to these every week! The jokes keep getting funnier, the art keeps getting better, and somehow the bosoms seem to keep getting bigger...

Done enough what? Enough to piss people off? Because I'd think that'd be a good thing.

valium:
Activision is just as bad as EA, they are just smart enough to know when to shut the hell up. EA seems to be laboring under the delusion any press is good press... or they really like the taste of feet.

Well they seem to be a tag team to me on some levels. Activision was getting so bad for a while that I was kind of happy to see their big line up of games done, and a bunch of EA titles about to hit the market, since I hadn't heard a lot from them at that point. They stepped in, outdid Activision, and are not taking the brunt of it. I almost expect EA to take a step back for a couple of years and let Activision step up and take the beating for a while again. :)

That said, Activision being staffed by a group of giant insects would explain an awful lot about what's been going on. :)

After the anal probing and cattle mutilations failed to acheive the desired results of demoralizing the human race, the nefarious Klackons put their next plan into the motion... destroy human moral through the developing game industry. Sadly while their predatory instincts are great, that racial "uncreative" disadvantage has kind of been hurting them big time, along with their inabillity to restrain the impulse to inject mind control larva into the employees of the companies they assimilate to try and shore up that weakness...

Just be happy we aren't dealing with an invasion from the Bulrathi, masters of ground combat they might be, but it's far more embarassing to lose to the Bulrathi...

Oh Erin! You made that insecoid monster so sad! :(

I think Erin just wanted to remind us, there are other evil companies out there, besides EA.

grigjd3:

Elijah Newton:

There's hope for me after all!!!

Just gotta avoid working for them... ;)

Okay... this may have been the funniest CM in quite a while...

grigjd3:

Nope, not a Thrikreen. Those have two hands and two claws instead of the scythe appendages.

It would be funny if in truth, someone in IGN is dating an Activision rep.

..considering I'm sure people are bitching about how IGN gets paid for Call of Dutys' high review scores.

The people in Activision are just as evil as those in EA, just not that incompetent.
