New Starbucks Size Larger Than Average Capacity of Human Stomach

Christ that would take most of the day to finish, and by then it would probably taste like shit.

Death God:
That is insane. Who would buy a coffee so big that they can't drink it all? Unless your sharing, it doesn't make sense.

Starbucks didn't get rich by making sense.

Two Starbucks right across the street from each other, anyone?

True. I've seen three of them within at least 4 blocks from each other. But somehow, insanity works for them.

GLo Jones:
I doubt it'll come overseas. There simply isn't the demand for something like that out of the US.

I don't even think there is a single Starbucks in my country.

Do they want to baffle their consumers to the death or something? What's the point of it unless you are planning to share it with another person.

When do us Canadians get it? I nearly drooled reading this.

Can I get a litre of espresso yet?

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, why did i have to move to a town with no starbucks? grrr il have to go make my own now and drink it out of a bucket just to make my self feel better

TheYellowCellPhone:
One liter of coffee.

I wonder who would need that much to stay awake.

Oh trust me, I no some one who would attempt to down that even after sleeping for 8 hours in order to stay awake.

No thanks. One RedBull does the trick for me most of the time. I am afraid to see what this would do to me.

A litre doesn't seem a stupid amount now I think about it. That's under two pints. That seems reasonable... well, not really, but not completely unreasonable.

Tall?

Grande?

Venti?

Trenta?

What the hell ever happened to small/medium/large?

Did I miss a meeting?

1 litre?

That is not so much i think..

MCdonalds in America, dont they have 3 litres or close to that amount?
*that heard from word of mouth so not sure*

but still, 1 litre is not that massive, cause you can probably take the cup with you i presume so it can last a while..

Lol, i would love to see someone drink a litre of that stuff.. Wicked i tell you!

Now, to go into a Starbucks and ask for an "Extra Large Iced Coffee."

hazabaza1:
Bring. It. The. Fuck. On.
Of course, I live in England, so Starbucks is rare...
But bring it anyway!

its really not
in my home town we have 5 within walking distance of each other. Thats just insane. Not to mention the neros, coffee republics and costas. Methinks you live in a small town.

A litre is 1.8 pints, and considering most people drink pints in pubs and take a while to do so, i think a litre is a hell of a lot. especially for coffee.

But it is iced coffee and ice tea they serve in that size, so not normal coffee..
but i agree 1 litre of normal black coffee would be an insane amount, but that is not what they speak of here..

Who the hell needs an american quart of coffee? What kind of serious hangover or deadline-rush are you experiencing where that is even possibly justified?

I mean, hell, I sometimes make tea or coffee in a one (UK) pint tin mug, but you don't fill those to the brim, it's already considered "for emergencies", generally takes time to get through, and I can feel my innards sloshing about afterwards...
(did two on the trot over about the space of an hour at the weekend as I was utterly dehydrated after helping some friends strip out a room for redecorating and there was no time left for beer... was a bit sick by the end of it, and both servings went cold)

And OK you may consume several pints over an evening in the pub, but that's not hot drinks (and arguably lower diuretic/calorie content) and you're usually sticking around for some hours - and whizzing it all out again at quite a pace...

Not that anything of this ilk regarding coffeeshops / cinemas / USAian chains / etc surprises me any more. The default setting seems to be "disgusting porker"... ;)

EDIT: Alright it may not be normal coffee, but I seem to remember someone mentioning to me that Iced Coffee has even MORE caffiene than the normal stuff. You're going to be buzzing off your face after downing that.
And of course it's only a matter of time before someone does this >>> http://www.bash.org/?918433 with it and has a seizure...

>> "Whatever happened to small, medium, large?"
Well that sort of progression wouldn't really apply here. It'd be a never ending and confusing progression of medium-large, large, extra large, stupid large, and all-new insanely goddamn inexcusably massive. Bit harder to con easily-led consumers into buying a dangerously OTT (and pricey) item that way. Long time since I went into a starbucks but I don't recall the actual volumes being noted next to the silly faux-italian names...

TestECull:
I'll just head over to the 7/11, where i can have a bigger cup full of just straight up coffee. No funny french names, no fancy ingredients, just a normal coffee with a ton of sugar.

Also, someone remind Starbucks that the stomach can expand quite readily if asked.

What this guy said. Why is this news? WHY? I used to drink a 64 oz big gulp of Gatorade everyday on my way home from work when I was at the UPS shipping warehouse and that was over twice as large as this thing. (The Big gulp, not the warehouse, which was considerably larger still). Oh what fat americans we are becoming, the pretentious coffee house's new cup size is LARGER THAN THE AVERAGE HUMAN STOMACH. WOOOOOooooOOO WOOOOOoooOOO *dead pan stare*

Whatever. I think the story's maybe shooting for the wrong angle but I guess somebody cares. I for one miss that old giant big-gulp. Heck why don't they have Gatorade at drink fountains anymore, or Canada Dry Ginger-ale? If anyone reads this, do they still have these things at YOUR drink fountains? And where are you?

Money + Crazy = Success.

A winning formula.

31 one ounces of lemonade on a hot ass summer day? sounds sweet to me

There's no word yet on when the new cup will roll out overseas.

Dear Starbucks of America,

.....you can KEEP IT!

Sincerely, Overseas.

I was at a restaurant, and when I asked for a drink, he asked if I wanted a small, medium, large, or ultra. I asked what ultra was, he brought out a bucket...I love that place.

What's the point if i can't get a proper cappucino in it!!

I heard about this in a news video on Comcast. All I'm thinking is "Forget stomach capacity...what about those poor people's BLADDERS?"

Not to mention the fact that if you factor in that coffee is supposed to "get you going", if you know what I mean...let's just say I'm not confident the plumbing facilities at Starbucks will be sufficiently adequate to handle this new size.

This makes me want a cup of coffee, and I'm out of Nescafe!

DarkRyter:
Average Stomach size?

In America, that just means "Happy Meal."

Lol :D
