Seriously, people owe BioWare a freakin' fitting grade school apology for their grade-school temper tantrum. Don't demand and get angry, be civil and actually civilly POINT OUT to them what you didn't like. If enough people did that, we'd still get the DLC you all want to buy so damn much and developers could know they can takes risks without having to free being named the worst company in history.
Erm we have pointed out what we didn't like...
It's just to get anything done or get noticed by Bioware you have to SHOUT LOUDS BECAUSE NO ONE LISTENS.
The ending existed to try and make people want more, despite Bioware stating otherwise, ME3 was never intended to be anything more then attempt to sell DLC and you are silly if that is even remotely a good thing. An ending that wasn't raw laziness would have made me hunger for more but it's what we got, I'm done being annoyed about it really, D3 is too close to be annoyed!
the endings didnt really fit into the whole journey you have been struggling towards. everything you did is absolutely meaningless and for a game whos emphasis is action and consequences this is devastating.
the ending was ok and it would be good if it would had been in another game.
but as it is, without further clarification, its just as retarded as this one.
and what pisses me of is that they just decided to exclude the writing team in the end.

Well, everyone is entitled to their own opinion and I for one? Am glad that SOME people liked it, even though I absolutely loathed it. Why? Because that meant that some people didn't have to go through the disappointment and anger a lot of other fans did, which quite honestly, is something dedicated fans of a compelling story shouldn't have to go through, at least, not for the very reasons we did.
The fact you didn't, and many others didn't, should be seen as a good thing, even from those like me, who hated the damn thing. Of course, that doesn't mean we don't feel that it should be changed, because we do feel that way, at least a substantial, vocal portion of us do. But, that's really neither here nor there, and if you like that ending, you should get the choice to keep it. After all, that was kind of Mass Effects thing, you know?
I also picked the 'Green' ending, and I did like it. The stuff around it was abysmal though, in that nothing mattered beyond a score counter.
Your choices don't matter by the end. Only whether or not you made a choice at all.
Also, plot-holes aplenty and last-second retcons to things that happened only minutes ago. Horrible rush-job if I ever saw one. I can't overstate how disappointed I am that they didn't delay the game another year to give it the depth they so clearly wanted before having to cut things down.
But the implications of the ending itself, if all that other stuff was handled right? Very nice.
The ending was some good ideas, just badly presented. Stuff like meeting the creator of the Reapers and deciding how they are dealt with and the rammifications that would have for the galaxy is definately an epic idea and a fitting conclusion to the series. But they let it all go to waste by excluding the other writers, giving it a rushed, unedited feel and having the all-powerful Reaper-creating entity be voiced by a fucking five-year old. Seriously, everythig else about the ending I could stomach, but that kid really needs to die (again).
Still, no matter what you thought of the ending, the rest of the game was exellent and did everything else brilliantly. I'm on my third playthrough and still enjoying it. If not for the controversy, we'd have a definite Game of the Year on our hands.
Story wise, I like it too. I'm not a subscriber of Indoctrination Theory as such, but the ending, for me, is open to so much interpretation, I've came up with my own head canon, so much so I'm debating whether or not to try my hand at fan fiction before the DLC comes out.
head 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
I didn't like the way it was implemented though, purely for the fact that everything was all dramatic and suddenly I've got this whiny kid droning at me for 10 minutes, explaining what everything does.
Also, I was surprised there was no "lose" scenario, where the Reapers do win and continue the cycle, say if you took too long deciding which ending to choose.
by the by, I chose Destroy, since it was the only one that made sense to me (again, story wise) The other two endings fit in, but that's linking in to canon.
In saying this, though, I'm looking forward to the DLC to see what actually happens, and get a bit of closure, even if it will end up dumping all over my ideas.
Im just fucking tired of these "I like/dont like something" threads. They have no discussion value and they just make the OP look like an attention whore.

Actually, there is. If you don't act after a certain period, you'll get a game over scene saying the crucible has been destroyed. Meh, I was a little let down by the ending. I didn't entirely hate it, but it had problems. There were a couple of plot holes, some bugs and everything could have been explained better. I had no ability to stop and ask questions at the end.

If you don't like these threads then WHY are you here?
DigitalAtlas: Annnnd, the only thing so far I find any bit stupid is the gltich where someone you had in battle ends up on the Normandy. There is no beaming up in the Mass Effect world. But it's just clearly a glitch.
Back in my day, we called those "plot holes". Something happens and it's not consistent with the events surrounding it.
But I didn't mind the ending. Could have been better, could have been worse. It's basically a significant portion of video game endings. It played out according to my expectations. It's either stupid or really smart with stupid bits thrown in but I accept it anyway.
I... don't see how it could've been worse... Only if the God Child suddenly revealed itself to be the Architect from Matrix, Shepard gaining Neo's powers and Reapers turned out to be Agent Smith. Harbinger being the original one.
I think my biggest problem with the ending(s) is not what they were but what they weren't.
The endings to the first two Mass Effect games changed depending on how you'd played, paragon or renegade.
For Mass Effect 1 this was just a dialogue change, with another variation depending on whether you'd saved or let the council die. In Mass Effect 2 your entire team was at risk because you needed to gain their loyalty or sent them on the wrong job.
Yet at the end of Mass Effect 3 nothing you'd done previously mattered. A ruthless renegade got the exact same dialogue, the same three choices of colour, as a shining paragon.
To me that was a wasted opportunity. They didn't need to make huge changes but even something small, like some dialogue changes as in Mass Effect 1, would have given players something back for playing in a certain way.

You're the only one that cares, or at least cares enough to show up and rant. Sucks, doesn't it? Funny story, you don't to post in this thread. Or even respond to this actual post. WEIRD!
No worries. I enjoyed the ending too. (100% destroy reapers ending for me) I about half expected the entire Bioware staff to come out and cockslap me in the face at the end the way everyone talked about it. But yeah, I thought it was a good ending, kinda regret picking Miranda as a love interest now. Should've picked liara, especially with her scene at the end between her and shepherd. That game was too good.
Aric Flowers: I'm glad you enjoyed it, honestly. As someone who disliked the way it ended, I will say that I can see why you didn't have a problem with it. If you become interested in why others are so passionate about their disdain for the ending I'll just direct you here
But if you liked it and don't wish to give it a second thought then just breeze on past the links.
Question to the OP out of curiosity, was this your first ME game or have you been playing since the first game?
I'be been playing since the first game. I've played through each game twice so far, and plan on replaying ME3. Part of the reason I was pleasantly surprised with ME3's ending was because I thought ME2's ending was really terrible.

The ending could have been better. What annoyed me more was the rehashing with different colours than anything else. All the OTT bitching is hilarious. But i still love the characters and stories and the universe and hope they will make other games based in this universe.
While I hated the ending, at least there was one redeeming value to it: It almost made me cry, because Shepard's sacrifice just separated every alien-species from each other by destroying every mass-relay in the galaxy, forcing them to say goodbye to each other until the time comes for them to build new technology to re-explore space.
But even then, if I had to pick between a beloved hero having to die to save the galaxy, and the idea of humans and aliens forever separated when they were just about to become such good friends, it would mostly be the former. Sure, the former is sad, but at least it only happens to one character, compared to the latter affecting the whole, fraggin' universe! I mean, how will humans go back to romancing asari and turians like Shepard before them, if his death had to destroy the entire mass-relay network and return the universe back to the stone-age? Sure, I remember Kingdom Hearts having a recurring theme of friendships always lasting forever even after parting ways, with most installments having downer-endings to reflect that theme as well, which is pretty sad when you think about it. And, it was due to Kingdom Hearts that I could slightly understand why BioWare had to write that ending. But even then, Kingdom Hearts was the same way as Mass Effect 3 before its release (and after if you count Dream Drop Distance in Japan): Not only crapping out downer-endings that forces beloved friends against their will to forever part ways except in spirit, but also making them convoluted and crappy for it as well!
Erm we have pointed out what we didn't like...
