Dragon’s Dogma 2 Officially in Development at Capcom

Dragon’s Dogma 2 was announced by Capcom during today’s 10 Years of Dragon’s Dogma anniversary event, but it looks like we’ll have to wait a long time before we get to see it. Dragon’s Dogma director Hideaki Itsuno, who hosted today’s event, announced that the sequel is officially in development. Additionally, Capcom has confirmed that Dragon’s Dogma 2 will utilize the RE Engine. However, all the team has to show so far is their T-shirts, so don’t expect any more information for a while. Until then, you can watch today’s announcement below, or skip to 11:25 for the reveal.

Dragon’s Dogma is an original fantasy action RPG that launched on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, garnering a mostly positive response from critics and fans at the time. An enhanced version called Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen arrived in 2013 and was later brought to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in 2017. Although its action-oriented view on a world of fire-breathing dragons slipped by many players at first, the Capcom-published video game is now considered a cult classic that continues to stand the test of time.

It may have taken 10 years to get Dragon’s Dogma 2, but it’s clear that fans never lost interest in the Capcom IP. For example, in 2020, Netflix released a Dragon’s Dogma anime, reviving the franchise with a new take more than eight years after its debut. Dragon’s Dogma 2 will continue the series’s legacy with something new, so stay tuned for more information on how Capcom will handle its long-awaited sequel.
