MMOs Go Cartoon Network

Television network to develop MMO with Grigon Entertainment, heralding “First Partnership Between U.S. Entertainment Company and a Korean Game Developer”

The Network announced today that it would develop a game, set for 2008 launch, targeting the kids’ interactive gaming market.

The game will be free to download, and rely on subscription players and micro-transactions to enhance the experience.

Developers plan for new areas for exploration, added regularly over the span of several years, the game will bring Cartoon Network’s characters and aesthetic to the online realm, with an “East-meets-West” creative approach, which includes Asian localization.

Jim Samples, the Network’s EVP and GM concluded, “This MMOG is a key part of Cartoon Network’s growth strategy, and is an important complement to our mobile, broadband and our existing online business. With the MMOG, mobile content, our Web sites and, of course, our linear network, Cartoon Network is always on for kids.”
