MySpace’s parent company buys a web content company created by the Naughty Dog guys.

Fox Interactive Media, the New Corp. division responsible for the MySpace acquisition, has purchased photo and video sharing site Flektor for an undisclosed sum ranging between $10 and $20 million. Launched less than a month ago, the acquisition coincides with Fox’s $250 million deal with image host Photobucket. In the heated social networking war, Fox can now partner a hosting service and an embeddable slideshow/video player along with it’s popular MySpace site.

Flektor was started by Naughty Dog (Crash Bandicoot, Jax and Daxter) co-founders Jason Rubin and Andy Gavin in Culver City, California. Rubin commented, “We founded Flektor to give Internet users they need to easily create, connect and share content. Becoming a part of Fox Interactive Media network will enable us to deliver these tools to the broadest possible online audience.”

“The acquisition of these two companies is a perfect strategic fit for us that reinforces FIM’s leadership in user-generated content. As a leading site for creative expression Photobucket extends our reach among personal media sharing enthusiasts and the innovative new entrant Flektor brings highly-differentiated new tools to the table that will drive the next generation. Together, they represent a powerful combination and we are thrilled for them to join our network,” said Peter Levinsohn, President of Fox Interactive Media.
