Manhunt 2 Leak Source Found

Take-Two Games has officially laid blame for the online leak of Manhunt 2 on a Sony Computer Entertainment Europe employee.

The leak of a PAL PlayStation 2 version of game occurred in September, following the British Board of Film Classification’s refusal to issue the game a rating, thus banning it in the U.K. Manhunt 2 developer Rockstar submitted an edited version of the game for consideration in October, which was also rejected; the leaked copy is the original, uncensored build.

“Take-Two Interactive has confirmed that a former employee of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) has acknowledged his responsibility for the unauthorized online distribution of an unrated play-test version of Manhunt 2 submitted for the European PAL PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system,” the company said in a statement.

The employee, who has since been fired, was not named, and neither Take-Two nor Sony would comment on any possible legal actions they may be considering. Sony responded to an inquiry from GamesIndustry.biz by saying, “As there is the potential for future legal action to be taken concerning this incident we are not in a position to make any comment.”
