Features Missing From PS3’s Area 51: Blacksite

Published reports indicate that Blacksite: Area 51 for the PlayStation 3 is somewhat gimped compared to the Xbox 360 version.

An IGN preview noted some glaring errors, namely the absence of online cooperative play, ranked play and voice support – all pretty much considered staples of shooters these days.

Separately, Ars Technica cited an “insider” source who offered the following commentary on reported problems with Midway’s development of the game on the Sony console.

“The PS3 version is experiencing issues and missed deadlines. … Midway isn’t happy at all about the progress, and it’s a story I’ve heard over and over this year across the industry when it comes to the PS3 and cross-platform titles.”
