Boom Blox May Come to Other Platforms

Boom Blox, the first Wii-exclusive game to come from the creative partnership between Electronic Arts and Steven Spielberg, may be released on other platforms in the future.

Boom Blox Senior Producer Amir Rahimi told VideoGamer.com at an EA Casual event in London, “There’s definitely the possibility of going to other consoles.” One of the concerns about ports to other platforms stems from the game’s heavy use of the Wii motion-sensing controller, an option currently lacking in the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Rahimi, however, said that once the Wii version of the game is complete, “The sky’s the limit.”

He also described the game’s physics model as one of the best he’s ever seen. “I certainly have not seen any game out on the Wii that uses… you know what? I might even be so bold as to say I haven’t really seen another game that uses physics as well and as much as Boom Blox.”

“We spend the majority of our CPU cycles solving physics,” he continued. “The game, the entire experience is based on realistic physics.”

Unveiled in February, Boom Blox is the first of three games to be produced by the Spielberg/EA partnership. The game will feature over 300 levels, a built-in level editor and both single-player and cooperative or competitive multiplayer game modes. Boom Blox is currently set for release on May 9, exclusively for the Nintendo Wii.
