Live-Action Skyrim Fan Film is Short But Sweet

Skyrim: Dragon Hunt, a live-action fan-made video, is a short but impressive look at the rough life of a Dovahkiin.

It’s not always easy being the Hero of the Beach. Plenty of babes and sunshine, sure, but sooner or later you’re going to have to punch someone out. Same thing when you’re the Dovahkiin; it’s all ale and whores until the dragon shows up and starts terrorizing the village, and then you have to slog out into the middle of the forest and try to take down a giant, flying, firebreathing lizard with a medieval nail gun and a glorified hedge trimmer.

This video by YouTube user polcan99, aka Tom Antos, is short and maybe a little overwrought, but it’s also pretty impressive for a one-man show. Not that Antos is a novice; he’s an indie filmmaker who’s been in the business since 1997, making commercials, music videos and other films.

Obligatory pedantry, to get it out of the way: the hero is a little under-dressed for a Nord dragon slayer and yes, the CGI fire-blast dodge was kinda cheesy. But there’s a dragon! In my book, that makes up for a lot. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim comes out on November 11 for the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
