The Internet is big. How big, do you ask? Really, really big. Maybe these absolutely astounding numbers will help put the ‘net in context for you.
If you’re reading this, there’s a good chance that the Internet is more than a cursory part of your average everyday life. Checking Wikipedia, browsing YouTube, playing TF2 or WoW, chatting on AIM or reading fine sites like The Escapist… we’ve come a long way since the early 1990s when it took my prepubescent self 15 minutes to figure out that the blurry picture slowly materializing in my CompuServe inbox was actually an image of (*gasp*) a naked woman!
Hell, we’ve come a long way since just a decade ago, and the sheer scope of information that is transferred over the Internet these days is really hard to grasp, especially for those of us who see it as practically a second language – a constant in our world. So it’s a good thing that the folks at Online Education have put together this handy little reference chart showing just how mammoth the Internet really is:
