Art Contest Participants Make Awesome League of Legends Models

This article is over 9 years old and may contain outdated information

Some fantastic character modelers are participating in Riot Games’ art contest, and you need to see what they designed.

Riot Games and Polycount are throwing a huge art contest that started all the way back in October and ends on December 19. With all of the cool League of Legends models, we wanted to show off some of the most viewed 3D models.

Participants can recreate the base champion, recreate an existing skin, or create their own skin. Considering how many League of Legends champions there are, that’s a lot of art.

To see the models from all angles, check out the modelers’ work on Sketchfab:

Character art was just one of five categories in this contest. There’s also plenty of great environment art, illustrations, animations, and visual effects. Participants are allowed to submit work in multiple categories and multiple entries in the same category.

Each category has prizes for first, second, and third place winners. Some of the prizes include Wacom tablets, Riot Points, work highlighted on Riot Games and League of Legends social media, and a signed Riot Games art contest poster.

The work in many of these categories takes a lot of time to get just right. It’s impressive how detailed some of the entries are considering the contest began a few months ago. Good luck to all of the participants! Riot Games will announce winners on January 30, 2015.
