A new job posting by Blizzard indicates a new Diablo project is in the early stages, but coming.
Blizzard has posted a new job listing, complete with hefty requirements, that indicates a new Diablo project is in the works.
Requirements include a minimum of 10 years’ experience in creating video game art, a minimum of five years’ experience as a lead artist or art director, and “a proven track record of shipping AAA products in an art director role.” Also essential is “experience modeling and texturing assets for a diverse visual range of environments and a solid grasp of form, color, and light for both 2D and 3D art assets.”
As a “plus,” Blizzard says you’ll need a “passion for games with a deep understanding of the Diablo franchise.” If that isn’t enough for you to be convinced of a new Diablo project, directly underneath “Unannounced Project” on the job listing it says “Diablo.”
Diablo III sold 3.5 millions copies in its first 24 hours, with expansion Diablo III: Reaper of Souls selling over 2.7 million copies in its first week. With Diablo III‘s success, it’s possible we’re looking at another expansion, although that’s unlikely considering the amount of time Blizzard usually takes in development.
Blizzard’s annual convention for its own franchises, BlizzCon, takes place on November 6 and 7 this year, and it’s unlikely we’ll hear any specifics before then.
