Bravely Default: Brilliant Lights Trailer Reveals New Mobile Game

Square Enix’s Bravely Default series is receiving a mobile entry, Bravely Default: Brilliant Lights. The publisher revealed the title today with its first trailer, explaining that the game will be free to play with in-app purchases. It’ll feature characters both old and new when it launches on iOS and Android at an unspecified point in the future. Bravely Default: Brilliant Lights will retain the series’s classic RPG gameplay despite being a mobile release. Watch the game’s trailer below.

Per Nintendo Enthusiast, Bravely Default: Brilliant Lights has a story written by Keiichi Ajiro, who worked on past games, and will see the series’s various worlds cross over. Raita Kazama is also returning to do the game’s art and character design, and Android users can expect a closed beta test at some point in the future. In addition to this new game reveal, Square Enix announced that the Bravely series has shipped more than three million units since first debuting nearly 10 years ago.

Bravely Default got its start when the original launched for Nintendo 3DS in 2012 in Japan. Bravely Second: End Layer launched as a follow-up on the same platform a few years later, but it wasn’t until a few months ago that players set out on a new journey when Bravely Default II made its way to fans on Nintendo Switch. As in the past, it seems Bravely Default: Brilliant Lights may only have a Japanese version at this time, and it’s unclear if the game will come to other territories. Stay tuned for further updates.
