Denis Dyack Says Too Human Coming Soon

Silicon Knights has said that a firm release date with “tons of new info” regarding its work-in-progress title Too Human is coming soon.

In a forum post on TooHuman.net, Silicon Knights Founder and President Denis Dyack wrote, “Too Human will be out in 2008. A firm date with tons of new info is coming soon. This will be followed up with a playable demo. The demo will speak for itself.” He ended by imploring forum readers to “hang in there.”

Too Human has become notorious for its long development period and missed deadlines. It showed at the 1999 E3 as a PlayStation title, but was shifted to the Nintendo GameCube in 2000. In 2005, Silicon Knights partnered with Microsoft to develop the game for the Xbox 360 console using the Unreal Engine 3, but legal difficulties with UE3 developer Epic have led them to switch to an internally-developed engine based on the UE3. In July, Silicon Knights sued Epic over what it claimed were inadequacies in the Unreal Engine 3, as well as Epic’s failure to properly support it; Epic counter-sued in August, claiming that Silicon Knights’ suit was without merit, and was instead an attempt to force a renegotiation of their licensing deal with Epic.

Although they did not offer specifics, Microsoft recently confirmed Too Human is “on track” for a 2008 release date.
