Elite Beat Ace Attorneys Is the Best DS Fan Project Ever

This article is over 15 years old and may contain outdated information

An enterprising fan has created a video showcasing a blend of DS cult classics Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney and Elite Beat Agents with the dulcet tones of Freddie Mercury and Queen. And it’s awesome.

As it happens, the games in the Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney trilogy are hands down some of my favorites of all time (not Apollo Justice, though. That game can bite me). Furthermore, I am of the opinion that Elite Beat Agents is also indisputably one of the most awesome games on the handheld, blending intuitive and entertaining touch-screen gameplay with over-the-top everything else. This is a game that manages to make Avril Lavigne and Cher actually enjoyable experiences, for cryin’ out loud.

So it stands to reason that a video combining the two of them – called Osu! Phoenix Wright – would be the best thing ever. As we see here, yes. Yes it is. This video (showing a custom level for unofficial EBA/Ouendan PC port Osu!) pits the Elite Beat Agents cheering on the eponymous Ace Attorney in one of his come-from-behind moments in court (defending one of their own number, no less), and there’s nothing about it that I don’t love. This video seamlessly manages to blend the style of the two games together, and you get the feeling that it could be dropped down in either of them and still make sense.

Oh, also it’s set to “Don’t Stop Me Now” by Queen, and as we all know, it’s been scientifically proven that Queen makes everything better.

A little investigating reveals that the “plot” of the level is actually based off a Phoenix Wright / Elite Beat Agents crossover fanfiction. Which, if it’s anything as awesome as the video is, might be worth reading. I guess I know what I’m doing today.
