Fable 3 Opens With Depressing Chicken Movie

Lionhead has released Fable 3’s opening cinematic for the world to see, and it’s probably not what you were expecting.

Considering that Fable 3 is a game about a hero’s struggle against an oppressive and tyrannical king, you’d think it would open with something pretty epic, right? Well, you’re mostly right, as the opening cinematic depicts a brave struggle to escape a cruel and terrible fate. It’s not quite the standard fantasy fare however, as our hero is a chicken.

Yes, that’s right, a chicken.

The cinematic has definite Pixar vibe to it, and at first Zoë Wanamaker’s rather stark voice over seems like a weird juxtaposition. But it all falls into place at the end, and the comedy of the chicken’s adventures makes the ending even sadder. It’s certainly an interesting way to start the game and it’s likely to get a lot of people talking about the game.

Fable 3 is scheduled release for Xbox 360 on October 26th, although the PC version has been delayed.
